Giant eyes
Sometimes the angle of Abby's glasses show just how thick the lenses are. Makes her eyes look huge! She is doing well with them-no complaints.

Shoes!
Abby got shoes in the mail yesterday! These sneakers and the boots fit perfectly! The other pair was a little big, but should fit soon. She loved kicking things with these sneakers. Before I put them on her, I just let her play with them for a while a watch them light up. She loves them!

Big girl chair
Here was Abby trying out a big girl chair at Walmart. She sat in it well, but couldn't get in and out of it, so I decided against getting it for her. Still looked cute in it though!

Four eyes
Abby's glasses came in! This is the best picture I could get with them because she would not stay still! When we got to the glasses place, she let out a little yell because I think she remembered being there the last time and us having to hold her head. I sat her down in a chair and put her glasses on real quick (strap over her head and then under her hair) and she immediately started looking around and pointig at stuff. She can finally see! The lenses are quite thick, so that's a little disappointing, but that just shows how bad her vision was before. I'll need to sew a stitch in the strap to make them a little tighter, but she's good to go with her glassss now! I'll try to get some better pictures once I get them securely on her head.

Just me and you kiddo!
Adam left this morning at 2:30am for a church staff retreat in Atlanta until Wednesday. Tony and Kathy are also on a church retreat of some sort, so Abby and I will hang out all on our own this week. I'm sure I'll see a lot of this face while I'm working from home and trying to keep her quiet while I'm on conference calls! "Mommy, what do you mean I can't come up and sit in your lap??"

Evenings
Abby has been a little more tired lately. Probably the allergy medicine she's on for a few days. She will just grab a blanket and lay down wherever she is. Very cute.

Back
If you need to get Abby in a silly mood, all you have to do is put her on her back and stand over her. She loves it!
On another note, after discussions yesterday with Alison about her brother's allergies, we took Abby in to the dr to look at the possibility of some allergies. She's had the puffy eyes in the morning and also some welts/hives on her chest and back for the past few days. She had peanut butter for the first time on Friday and this all began soon after, so the doctor has marked her as allergic to nut products. She got some medicine to help with any itching she might have for a few days and we will make sure she doesn't get ahold of anything nutty for a few years. They said in a couple years we can take her to an allergist and have her tested to see if she has grown out of it or not. In the mean time, no nuts for Abby! We don't want her to end up with a worse reaction.

Jail
Occasionally, Abby goes to the gate at the bottom of the stairs and checks to see of it's locked or not. She so wants to climb those stairs!

Rocky
Sometimes Abby wakes up with swollen eyes. Typical morning eyes. Yesterday's outfit made her look like a beat up Rocky ready for her workout!

Celebrity
Somebody made it into a brochure for Playworks! The is Abby's Physical Therapist-Lara-who specializes in torticollus. This was taken the week after she got her helmet off (end of Nov 2013).

Happy Valentine's Day!
Abby got everyone a tube of Desitin for Valentines Day. How thoughtful. Here she is in her outit from Nana that got here just in the nick of time!

Climbing
Abby has started climbing things now. Here she is trying to climb over me to get my drink. She can also climb the stairs! We'll be working this week on climbing DOWN the stairs in case she ends up at the stairs when we're not there to chaperone. We usually keep her off of them, but it's good for her to know if she gets in a pickle.

So fast
When Abby uses her walker now, she's basically running across the floor. She goes as far as she can and rams into whatever is stopping her!

Look what I can do!
I don't have a picture today, but I do have some news. Abby took her first steps on her own yesterday at PT! She took about 5-6 short choppy steps towards me. We tried to get it on video for the rest of the appointment but didn't get much. We tried again when Adam got home and she took a few steps! We'll try to get pics and video soon!

Baths make it better
Abby had developed some sick stuff over the weekend. Runny nose and hacking cough. No fever though. We called the dr to get what meds she needed to take and there's always the soothing bath that comes up. This time the order was warm bath to help her breathe easier. It helped brighten her mood. She also took the opportunity to lick her snot. Yummy.

Looks familiar...
So it seems Abby takes after her mom a little more than we thought. This is how she's started sleeping at night.
And no-I don't still sleep this way :-)

Sad face
We had to get Abby back to the glasses shop to try on a different shaped frame and she was not happy. You can see her tears of you look close. Poor thing.

Glasses
I have mentioned Abby's lazy eye. It's gotten much worse over the last week so I got her appointment moved up. We went this morning to get eye drops to dilate them, and then a good ole eye exam. I had to hold her in my lap, holding her arms down and her torso. Adam had to hold her head still and the assistant had to hold her legs down. All so the dr could take a look in her eyes. You all know she's normally pretty chill, but the second he tried to hold her head still so he could look, she went nuts. Turns out that she is actually really farsighted. When her eyes try to focus in on something, the muscles that do that are on the sides of her eyes--thus they are pulled sideways. She won't have to wear an eye patch for correction and no surgery-but she does have to wear glasses. The dr said there is a chance that it will correct itself over time, but because of the severity of her far sidedness, he thinks it's likely she will wear them into her preteen years and then do contacts if she wants. So she will be joining the lifetime glasses wearers. We picked them out today--they're a dark rose color, flexible, with a strap behind the head to keep them on. We'll get them in a couple of weeks. Here she is getting cheered up by Adam while I was picking out her glasses.

Nap time
This is how Abby would tell me she was ready for a nap on our snow day. She crawled over, pulled herself up, then "assumed the position".

Snow day
We got about a foot of snow yesterday. There was no way we were getting out of the house. Adam got stranded on his way to work but ended up getting someone to pick him up and made it home later just fine. I left my laptop at work and couldn't work so we got to just hang out! Most snow I've seen here!

Mischievous girl
Since Abby can stand, she can get into things more easily. Here she was "helping" me unpack last week from our trip. She would grab something out of my luggage and awkwardly stand there with it. Maybe she's working out her thighs?

Vegas Souvenir
We got Abby a onesie from Vegas.
You can't see too well in this picture, but the character is wearing pink high heels with cuffed socks. Classic.

Lazy eye
So--Abby is developing the occasional lazy eye. We brought it up at her last dr appt and now have an ophthalmology appt on the calendar to try to correct it. Still a cutie--but we're going to need to need to get it corrected soon. We can easily get her to snap out of it, but we definitely don't want it to get worse. Luckily, we're pros at doctor appointments at this point!
